Is the Water Hard in Johnson County?

Yes. Indiana American Water, which supplies Whiteland and much of Johnson County, reported average hardness of 376 parts per million in its Johnson County water quality report (2020 data). That's about 22 grains per gallon. The U.S. Geological Survey calls anything over 10.5 grains per gallon "very hard." That's why you see white crust on faucets, spots on dishes and water heaters that wear out early.

Why Folks Call the Salty Dog

You get the owner. I'm Erick, I own the company, and I'm the one who shows up. No call center, no rotating crew, no salesman.

You get the numbers first. Before I sell you anything, I test your water and show you the results. If you don't need a softener, I'll tell you.

You get a straight price. Clear options, clear prices, and no pressure. You pick what fits.

You get a plumber, not a water salesman. A lot of water treatment companies only sell equipment. I'm a licensed plumber, so the drain, the loop, the water heater and the pipes are my job too.

How It Works

  1. Call, text or send the form. I get back to you fast.
  2. I come out, test the water or find the problem, and give you simple options with prices.
  3. You pick what fits. I do the work and clean up when I'm done.

Meet Erick

I started Salty Dog Plumbing in 2024 to be the plumber people actually want to call: upbeat, honest and easy to reach. I'm a licensed Indiana plumbing contractor, I live right here in Whiteland, and water treatment is my specialty. I've installed systems for a water treatment company, so I know the equipment inside and out. Now you can call me direct.
